Artist Statement
There is a great sense of power in art, what with the ability to create something from nothing and "make it look easy my kid can do that." I find myself drawn to subject matter that is bizarre, misunderstood, or simply doesn't have a lot of information pertaining to it. I love showing a different side to the vicious, intimidating, strange, or ugly to show that even the most gruesome thing can have beautiful attributes. With my dinosaur sculptures, I like to show a different approach to highly detailed representations of these animals. Usually they are depicted powerful, in a stagnant pose, or tearing into one another for a fight for survival. My goal is to show that there is more to being a beast than being a beast.
